Bio

Born in the U.S. into a musical family, Brian took a deep interest in music at a very young age; his love for classical guitar born out of an exposure to a variety of musical styles throughout his life. It all began as early as age 5 when he’d become a huge fan of The Beatles, through his parents’ record collection. Brian’s desire to become a musician surfaced at age 14 when he discovered guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page, and at that time, received his first acoustic guitar. He purchased an electric guitar shortly thereafter and began developing his guitar skills through learning music by ear, gaining recognition from fellow guitar players throughout the greater Orlando area.

Brian’s first exposure to classical music came through his determination to learn the piano at age 17. He’d been so inspired by his grandmother’s performance of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata that he knew nothing would stop him from learning the piece. He painstakingly worked through the entire score of the first movement, eventually mastering the piece while teaching himself to read music at the same time. Formal lessons on the piano would follow.

In the next phase of Brian’s life, he found himself looking for new guitar challenges right at the time he was about to begin his college career. He’d been exposed to classical guitar through a friend and had decided to enroll at Seminole State College as a music major. He auditioned for a music scholarship and his performance earned him full tuition as a classical guitar major with a piano minor. In addition to classical guitar and piano study as requirements for Brian’s degree, he received extensive training in music theory and sight-singing/keyboard harmony which included a study of common practice period harmony with an emphasis on four-part writing in the style of J.S. Bach, harmonic analysis with figured bass, ear training and melodic and harmonic dictation. Brian immediately began utilizing some of his formal training by adapting pieces written for other instruments into his own solo guitar arrangements; the first of which was Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. Brian began his musical career, performing at various special events in the greater Orlando area.

Brian later had the good fortune of befriending the great flamenco guitarist, Juan Serrano upon a chance meeting while Brian was performing at an Orlando area venue. He then began a 2 1/2 year study of flamenco guitar with Juan and his continued friendship with him has been an invaluable source of inspiration and guidance to Brian’s musical career. Over the next year and a half, Brian continued his study of flamenco guitar, performing as part of a Flamenco/Latin-Jazz guitar duo.

Today, Brian continues his performance schedule both throughout Florida and abroad providing live entertainment for weddings, private parties, corporate functions, banquets, conventions, restaurants, festivals, resorts and more.
