Student video recitals are a way for my students to demonstrate some of the skills they’ve learned through my lesson program. These videos also show the diversity of styles I teach and my various approaches to teaching the instrument.
Since I allow complete freedom for all of my teenage and adult students when it comes to the styles of music that interests them, the songs performed reflect their own personal taste in music and not necessarily my own. [Click here for more on my teaching philosophy.] (<--link temporarily broken) All songs are chosen by the student then learned and transcribed by myself, for them, sometimes with the help of transcriptions available on the Internet. The “drum tracks” in the videos are coming from the student’s own personal Digitec RP70 effects processor which is an integral part of my teaching approach for all of my electric guitar/rock students. In songs that involved more complicated drum tracks, my own personal drum machine was used (see below) and in some cases, the actual studio backing tracks were used, when available. I played accompanying guitar parts only in videos where a second part was required.
